New Maratis scene editor based on the FLTK toolkit

Hey community!

If you visited my Maratis git repository on GitHub you may have noticed that I mostly worked on a new editor based on the FLTK toolkit (http://www.fltk.org/index.php). In the making I made some changes which break binary compatibility so you have to recompile your game plugin with the new SDK headers included in the package.

I want to release a version 0.1 in the near future but want it to be as stable as possible.
Please download, install and test my program if you have time.
Report all issues on the GitHub page : https://github.com/Sponk/Maratis-1/issues

The editor is licensed under the terms and conditions of the GNU General Public License and uses code from the official editor/player.

You should backup your project before testing the software since it is not completely stable yet and could destroy your project. (It never happened to me but safe is safe )

There are some changes in the usage of the shadow blur value. In this version suitable values are > 1. Experiment with it a little.

The play feature is not embedded into the editor since FLTK does not allow realtime updates which are fast enough. It will start the player executable instead so you have to use the "Project=>Update player" menu before launching.
It will copy all files to run the player to your project directory.

You can find the source code here: https://github.com/Sponk/Maratis-1

There is no Mac version available since I don't own a Mac. I don't even know if it builds on OS X.

Download links:

Windows setup: http://scary-squid.de/downloads/maratis … -win32.exe
Windows zip: http://scary-squid.de/downloads/maratis … -win32.zip

Linux RPM: http://scary-squid.de/downloads/maratis … -Linux.rpm
Linux DEB: http://scary-squid.de/downloads/maratis … -Linux.deb
Linux *.tar.gz: http://scary-squid.de/downloads/maratis … nux.tar.gz
Linux SH: http://scary-squid.de/downloads/maratis … 0-Linux.sh

Wordpress page (I just wanted to experiment with WP a little ) : http://scary-squid.de/wordpress/

Have fun with it!
Sponk

I like to use sketchup for modeling. I have just found a great app for exporting UV unwrapped OBJs from sketchup. I will also post a list of other useful plugins later:

SketchUV:
http://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/sketchuv

SketchUV Review:
After using this plugin a few times, I have to say it is a must! Topology is not triangulated as with the standard collada export. It also works for "Pre Trimble" versions of Sketchup. Applied Sketchup materials transfer over perfectly as well.

Hello ! i made some scripts to automate some tiring tasks in blender.

Most of them were done with the try-fail-repeat method and some parts taken from other tutorials about scripting
mostly found on BlenderArtists forums

To use them, you must load them in a blender text editor window, then press right click -> run script (or press Alt+P on top of the text window)

Compatible with 2.68

———————————————————————————————————————

• Add Material

Adds a 4 slotted material to the object in focus.
The slots are 1- Diffuse / 2- Specular / 3- Normals / 4- Emit, to match maratis specs.
All slots settings *should* be fine (neutral settings).
-> I deactivated Texture Interpolation in this script
-> Premultiply Alpha name has changed, and i didn't enabled it in the script

———————————————————————————————————————

• Insert a texture to an already existing material

Adds a texture to the material of the object you have in focus
Unfortunately i was unable to choose the slot where the texture is added.
-> The texture must already be "loaded" in the current blender scene before using the script or it won't work

———————————————————————————————————————

• Single Slot Material + Alpha Texture

Sometimes i need a quick material with an alpha texture, this scripts add a
quick one-slotted material and loads a texture on it.
-> You must edit the script and set your own path to your texture

———————————————————————————————————————

• Apply Transformations

Apply all transformations at once (location, rotation, scale)

———————————————————————————————————————

• Enable Modifier to all objects in selection
• Apply Modifier to all objects in selection

This one is not pretty at all : i forgot how to enable + apply them in the same script.
I choose Array in this script but of course you can do the same with any available modifier,
you just need to change the modifier name

———————————————————————————————————————

• Origin to geometry for all objects in selection

That's it

———————————————————————————————————————

• Solidifier

Example of usage : Make walls out of a single plane,
make borders out of a wall
-> Gonna add a screenshot or two later on, guess it's pretty unclear atm =p

———————————————————————————————————————

• Set-up Maratis Animations

Set Maratis animations by script instead of manually (thanks anael for this )
-> Script is just an example, you obviously need to edit and set your own values

———————————————————————————————————————

• Texture Anim (Simple Scrolling)

You just have to set the path to your texture,in "realpath = os.path.expanduser('C:/Path/To/YourTexture.png')"
-> Important : use "/" instead of "\"

▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
To come (already made but i must verify them)

• Texture animation (spritesheet animation)

Sketchup To Blender To Maratis

I finally found a way to get my sketchup model into Blender with textures and faces intact. It uses the OBJ EXPORTER plugin:

http://www.needformadness.com/developer … .php?t=360

You will also need the Maratis Plugin for Blender:

http://www.maratis3d.org/?p=277

This is what i get:

Note: The sketchup plugin will show up under the PLUGINS window in sketchup.

Note: For now I have to import the obj into Blender, then export it back out as an obj from there, then back in, and back out to a Maratis MESH file (as I keep getting some tracking error), but you may not have to.
